The Monastery of Lluc (from the Latin name, Lucus, which means "sacred forest") is located in the municipality of Escorca, some 400 metres above sea level, in Sierra Tramontana, in Majorca, the largest the Balearic Islands. It is considered the sacred place of pilgrimage and par excellence of the island. Every year, it is celebrated an event called multitudinous march des Güell to Lluc by feet, with more than 50,000 people . The shrine also has a botanical garden that was established in 1956, called Botanical Garden of Lluc.
