The Mas Freixa is a modernist building located in the park of Sant Jordi, in the heart of the city. This unique building was built in 1896 and renovated between the years 1907 and 1914 by architect Lluis Muncunill. Lluís Muncunill created in this building one of the jewels of modernism, with its arches and vaults structure with walls painted white, and with a high tower. For many years housed the Municipal Conservatory of Music that now has been moved to another new building at the University Campus.

The house was designed originally to serve as a textile factory and the architect Muncunill transformed it into the family residence of the textile industrial Joaquin Freixa i Argemí.
